Soundtrack comments
The movie is very attractive for Olga Schoberova, aka, Olinka Berova's presence and beauty and also for the wonderful soundtrack by Angelo Francesco Lavagnino.With just one movie for Hollywood("Togetherness") Olga has made several European movies, outside Czech Republic. We could say she is sort of famous specially for her roles in German Western movies with her husband Brad Harris. Along with several other soundtracks by this magnificent Italian composer, POPPEA never appeared in LP or CD. The plot is weak and it is just another example of misuse all technicians in Cinecittá to obtain rather feeble laughable situations.

Irresistible B movie.
Aptly described by the other reviews here as "Thunder Road" meets "The Dirty Dozen", "The Devil's 8" is just pure fun. The filmmakers have fun with the premise and deliver an acceptable amount of thrills, spills, and titillation in 99 straightforward minutes. Capably produced and directed by Burt Topper ("The Strangler", "The Hard Ride"), it features some enjoyable location work - it was filmed partly in the Big Bear Lake area - and a peppy music score by Mike Curb and Michael Lloyd. The cast is stocked with familiar faces and the story leads to a pretty good action-packed finish.
Christopher George delivers a very engaging performance as Ray Faulkner, a federal agent who busts several prisoners - the "Devil's 8" of the title - out of a work camp so that they can be made to work for the government. Their mission will be to make life miserable for various moonshiners led by Burl (Ralph Meeker), and ultimately, to take Burl alive so he can be pumped for information. Along the way the scrappy young bunch take time out to pursue members of the fairer sex and indulge in what is a good old fashioned barroom brawl.
Other members of the cast include singer Fabian as Sonny, Tom Nardini ("Cat Ballou") as Billy Joe, Cliff Osmond ("Invasion of the Bee Girls") as Bubba, biker flick veteran Larry Bishop ("The Savage Seven") as Chandler, Robert DoQui (Sgt. Reed in the "RoboCop" series) as Henry, Kubrick regular Joe Turkel ("The Shining") as Sam, and Ron Rifkin ("L.A. Confidential") as timid federal agent Stewart Martin. Ross Hagen ("The Hellcats") is particularly good as Frank, whose involvement in the mission is also personal, and sexy Leslie Parrish is delightful eye candy as Franks' lady friend Cissy. Look for Georges' wife Lynda Day George in an uncredited bit as Faulkners' girlfriend.
Overall, this is routine but it still delivers the goods for lovers of this sort of thing.

The golden widow
"Une Veuve En Or " is proof positive that Michel Audiard as a director ,it's a long way from Audiard the brilliant writer whose best lines are remembered by the French audience .
"Une Veuve En Or" (a golden widow) : a woman learns that she is her forgotten rich uncle 's sole legatee ;but there is an embarrassing clause :she's got to be a widow to latch onto the dough or else the fortune will go to a vague sect (another cliché of the time).There's the rub :she's married so she's got to get rid of the hubby.
Many critics wrote that Michele Mercier (whose only claim to fame was the famous Marquise Des Anges ,Angélique) was not the character and that Mireille Darc would have scored better as Delphine and it's certainly true .But the gags are rather ponderous and true black humor is desperately lacking :it's not "arsenic and old lace" .
Audiard's talent as a director never matched his genius as a writer but some of his movies are entertaining :"Comment Reussir Quand On Est Con Et Pleurnichard " or "Elle Boit Pas ...." ;the former was saved by Jean Carmet ,the latter by Annie Girardot.Unlike these two later works "Une Veuve En Or" was not a commercial success.

The benefit is yours, the pain is mine
there's a reason this western has remained unknown and obscure. and the reason is that it stinks. uninspired, uninteresting, and unmemorable, this is a loooooooong slow trudge to nowhere. the 90 minutes feel twice as long. i kept expecting something to happen that will validate my patience, but zip. zilch. nada. not much violence or action, no nudity, no memorable acting, no characters to buoy your interest. and your kid brother can write this kinda plot after watching a marathon session of old Hollywood B westerns. i wrote this review, so that you can benefit from my suffering and save your time.
in case i didn't make it clear enough, AVOID IT! shoo, clear off...unless you're a masochist or a hard-core Western collector who must have every genre entry in his collection.
rating: 2/10 (for a couple of beautiful faces in the cast, and some cinematography. and the 3 people who gave this film a '10' each are clearly sadistic jokers!)

Attractive women in overly cutesy soft porn
Porn comedy has "porn" as the adjective and "comedy" as the noun, and that's the problem with HENRY'S NIGHT IN. I'm the first commenter on IMDb for this widely-seen junker because it tried too hard to be funny, and failed.
First problem is casting porn stalwart Forman Shane as Henry. He's normally the dramatic lead, often unsympathetic, and to make him into a sort of X-rated Fred MacMurray is ridiculous. Even Fred was better in noir like DOUBLE INDEMNITY than the Disney trivia of FLUBBER.
The fantasy premise here is extremely lame. Shane as Henry is a bespectacled nerd, whose wife complains he can't get it up anymore. He goes to a shrink (guy unnerved me, resembling in look & manner Ed Hunt who I loved starring in England's U.F.O. TV series) who recommends that sleeping around with as many women as possible will re-start his libido and get him back on good terms with his wife (yeah, right).
In a dumb antique auction having stentorian-voiced Steve Vincent as auctioneer, Henry's bamboozled into buying an old trunk, sort of a grab-bag. It has an ancient tome "Diary of the Invisible Man" inside, which allows Henry to re-create the formula for invisibility and, natch, try it out on himself.
Before you can say "what about side effects" Henry is causing all manner of trouble with his new power. Unfortunately, this porn film had zero special effects budget, so the fantasy content is negligible. Jump cuts cause Henry to disappear and reappear, triggered by the act of sneezing, and a few objects levitate crudely on wires.
Even though we got endless amounts of full frontal nudity, the action is more a throwback to the early '60s cuties, as there's little humping, using invisibility primarily for voyeuristic purposes or to permit practical joking. Best scene has one of the girls, blonde Phyliss Stengel bumping and grinding in bed making love to an invisible critter, recalling Barbara Hershey in the classic horror film THE ENTITY.
Although Shane was immensely tiresome, Mary Bauer (an unsung porn beauty with a perfect figure) as his new neighbor, Stengel and facially challenged but stacked wifey Barbara Kline are a trio of turn-ons. The fact that the anonymous director of this nonsense lets each of their solo masturbation-styled sex scenes, nude shower or bath footage run endlessly is a crime against the film's pacing but gives the fans plenty to watch.
Plot twisting regarding the shrink's ulterior motives and a code word "Jack" given to the ladies as post-hypnotic suggestion doesn't amount to much. Basically this could have been a cute little winner of a film worth signing had some effort been put into the script, as well as re-casting Henry with a talented comedian.

The Best Lousy Movie I've Ever Seen
You have GOT to see this movie to believe it. The music is better (or cheesier) than Austin Powers (Whammy bar electric guitars twang along while a pretentious singer who sounds like Elvis on Ludes wails "Green SLIME! Green Slime!") Richard Jaeckal (of The Dirty Dozen fame) is unintentionally hilarious as the space station Rambo. He grits his teeth every time the camera is on him (no exaggeration!) But the stars of this movie have to be the one-piece, rubber suited, one-eyed monsters with the electric touch. I saw this when I was 15, and I still remember laughing at them, and at the space station hanging on its wires, burning in space (The flames and smoke RISE UP...in space, get it?) All in all, a spectacularly bad movie...so bad its great.

So strange, I do not think you can spoil this movie
A strange story of Jesus (Clémenti), before his passion. His mother Marie (Zouzou) cannot get him out of the house to do his proselytizing, but eventually he takes bullhorn in hand and gets rejected at every door. He meets Marie Magdalène (Zouzou) who is happy to spend time with him as long as he gives her stones like her other clients. He spends a lot of time with these two women and occasionally goes out to proselytize in the water, on the rocks and in the swamps, He is ridden off his donkey by some thugs on horses while he gives out drugs to various prostitutes along the way. And he sees horrific suffering when his mother opens Pandora's Box. In the end, he wanders off into the ocean while a very pregnant Marie or perhaps Marie Magdalène lies on her back like a beached whale at the edge of the water. Beautiful stark rocky sets with intense lighting and minimal acting. Except for a few scenes with the thugs and Monty Python like fighting apostles, there is little music. Oddly compelling and intense visuals, that might hold anyone's attention, even if they knew nothing about the Jesus stories.

One of the best Spanish films ever made
If cinema is about moving your mind to another time or space, then this film is a masterpiece. Today, when you see an historical movie (at least an Spanish one), you can't help perceiving it just like several xxi century guys acting disguised like people of ancient times, but when you watch this movie you are literary moved 100 years ago, far way from your everyday life, and you can feel very well the darkness of these times, when the barrier among superstition and reality was confuse and someone like the mean character of the film, a miserable man unable to control his criminal impulses, could be confused with a "lobisome" (werewolf). In the other hand, on the contrary of most of American films, there is not unnecessary violence on this one and even when Benito Freire (the werewolf) is an assassin, as the film is going by you can just feel sorrow for him.

This movie made me love John Wayne.
This movie came out when I was just a wee gal. My grandfather was a big western fan, so I am sure I saw it at his house in between episodes of Gunsmoke. I don't remember the first time I saw it, but I remember how I came to love John Wayne. When he died in the late 70s I was crushed. I still watch this movie at least once a year, (it is on TNT or some other Turner channel at least monthly). Rooster Cogburn is, to me, the archetype of all Western heroes. He is the undeniably flawed, crochety old man that hides his tenderness behind a facade of toughness. He roams all over the west in search of bad guys, and he drinks to fill the hole inside him that loneliness has created. It is important to say that he is not a killer, or interested in revenge. His whole being, his soul, rests on the cause of justice. He is the bravest character ever created in a writer's imagination. At the end, when he jumps his horse over the fence and tells Maddie to come and see an old fat man sometime, I cry. Everytime. Despite his politics, and the fact that he was just an actor, to me John Wayne is the lone western hero that will remain in my heart for all my life.

Struktura Krysztalu : A Krzysztof Zanussi film about two friends interested in physics.
It is with his second film "The Structure of Crystals"/Struktura Krysztalu that Polish director Krzysztof Zanussi embarked on an artistic mission to reveal bitter truth in his films. Most of his films contain numerous autobiographical references and are based on ordinary events featuring determined people who make untiring efforts to comprehend their troubled existences. This film is centered around a small family welcoming a friend who has come from USA. It is with absolute nonchalance that the characters utter their dialogs which have an air of scientific language. The audience becomes a part of the disagreement among the friends when they fight it out over some minor issues including one's perspective about people and aim in life. Apart from being a good piece of cinema of moral concern, "Struktura Krysztalu" reveals itself as an absolute delight for philosophy practitioners as Zanussi mentions some of the greatest names in western philosophy namely Plato, Aristotle and Thomas Aquinas. It is through them that the protagonists of the film declare their dislike for infinity which is merely a mathematical concept. The last days of the great Russian writer Anton Chekov are also discussed by this film's actors enabling them to realize the banality of their conversations but also the apparent emptiness of their vacuous existence.

Still up to date ,to see even if you don't like to cry .
I red the book when I was 11 and wanted to see the film . I liked it the same . Now I am 35 and I still like to see it sometimes . It's a good analysis of the characters . What would you do if a person you love very much have to die en six month . Bourvil is my favourite actor and it is one of his best role .
